Cambodia Christian

After Thailand I arrived at the border to Cambodia. From one minute to the other everything changed. The road is dirty, from driving on the left it changed to the right. I arrived in a very poor country.

My first destination was Siem Reap. Here are the famous temples Angkor Wat and hundreds of other temples.

Angkor Wat.

Here u can find the oldest Buddhas in the world.

My Tuc Tuc driver Honda and I had a lot of fun. He drives me around and sleeps when I'm in the temples. We have 2 days together.

For lunch we went to his friends little restaurant. This is Srey and she cooks very nice curries. She comes from a very poor family and has to cycle 2 hours every day to work, with a very old bicycle without brakes. But there is always a smile in the face of the Cambodian people.

After lunch I visited the floating village. I was alone on the boat. Honda is sleeping and waits for me.

This boats engine is from a car. The people here are very creative.

Here they are building a new floating school.

Everything is transported by boat

It's amazing how these people live here

A lot of tourist boats come into this village. They are noisy and big. Not one dollar is going into the village form these people. Only one shop with a lookout and the boats make any money.

This little girl is so light that she can walk on these plants.

These kids are paddling around in these little bowls with a snake on their shoulder and asking for a dollar.

Honda and I had a great day. It's raining and I sit in the cabin of the Tuc Tuc. I gave my rainjacket to him. He is still smiling :-)
Back in the Hostel Honda and I started to drink. His excuse not to go home to his family is the rain. The streets are not good in the rain ;-)

In a local restaurant we ate dog meat and drunk ricewine. This plate costs 50 cent.

That's the toilet from this restaurant. But after 1 year travelling u take everything. I saw worse!

The night is still young when Honda's friends came. We went to a house and ate and had more ricewine.

Next morning I woke up and Honda had slept in my room in the bed next to me.

Ah and this we also ate the whole night like chips.

At 9am Honda and I were at the temples again.

He is a awesome cyclist

This is the famous Tomb Raider temple from the movie with Angelina.

One of Hondas friends invited me and two English guys for his daughters first birthday.

We had a good BBQ

Honda and me

And again we ate Insects

My next destination is Kratie on the Mekong River. On the way I was looking out of the window for hours, The landscape, the ricefields and how people living is like 100 years ago in Europe.

In Kratie I went to the Island with a Bicycle.

On the Island the people are all farmers. They grow all kind of vegies and rice.

Often the rain is coming very quick and strong. It's rain season in Cambodia.

Kratie Market

Very good banana rice rolls

Cooked on the street from this man.

Fishing is big here in Kratie.

One reason I came to Kratie is the Mekong freshwater Dolphins. This boat crashed into the tourist boat I was sitting in. It was quite scary but nothing happend. I was again the only tourist on this boat.

This is one of this Dolphins. We saw 5 of them coming up to breech several times.

On my way to Vietnam I had a short stop over in Phnom Penh the capital of Cambodia. At the bus station I watched these guys. The man in blue with the stick in his hand keeps the Tuc Tuc drivers away from the people coming out of the buses. Just 2 or 3 are allowed to go to the people.

I love Cambodia! It's a very nice Country with a lot of nice people who know how to survive and be happy.
